Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. Your records are stored on your device, and you can sync them through your own iCloud.
Does PocketBook work offline?
Yes. You can add and view entries without a connection. iCloud sync, exchange-rate updates and ads need the internet.
Is PocketBook free?
Yes. PocketBook is free and shows ads. PocketBook Plus is an optional one-time purchase, never a subscription.
Sync & backups
How do I sync between my iPhone and iPad?
Sign in to the same Apple Account on both devices, and turn on Sync with iCloud in the app. Changes then appear on your other devices, usually within a minute while both are online.
Is iCloud sync a backup?
No. Sync keeps your devices the same, so deleting an entry on one device deletes it on all of them. Make regular backups or exports of anything you can't afford to lose.
How do I move my records to a new phone?
With iCloud sync on, sign in to the same Apple Account on the new phone and your records sync down. Without sync, tap Back up now on the old phone, save the backup to Files or iCloud Drive, then use Restore from a backup file… on the new one.
Can I export to Excel or CSV?
Yes. Export your entries as CSV or Excel and share them to Files, Mail or any other app. You can also bring entries in with Import from a spreadsheet…
Using PocketBook
How do exchange rates work?
Set your main currency, then add the other currencies you use. Tap Update rates to download the latest European Central Bank reference rates, or type in your own rate. Rates can differ from what your bank charges.
My repeating entry didn't appear on time
Repeats and card payments are posted automatically, but iOS decides when apps may run in the background. Opening PocketBook always catches up on anything that is due, without creating duplicates.
How do I lock the app?
Turn on the lock in the app's settings and choose Face ID or a passcode. Widgets and notifications can still show some details on your Home and Lock Screen, so choose them with that in mind.
I forgot my passcode
For your security a forgotten passcode can't be recovered. Delete and reinstall the app, then restore a backup or let iCloud sync bring your records back.
Ads, privacy & purchases
Do advertisers see my financial data?
No. Your entries, balances and receipts never leave your devices and your own iCloud. Google AdMob collects some device, usage and diagnostic data to show ads, but never your records. Read the full Privacy Policy.
How do I change my tracking choice?
Go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking and turn PocketBook on or off.
How do I restore PocketBook Plus?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore Purchases in the app. Plus is a one-time purchase, so you never pay twice.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
