The short version
- What you cast goes only to your TV. Your screen, photos, videos and music travel over your own Wi-Fi from your iPhone to the TV you pick. We never receive, record or store them. There is no account.
- Screen Mirror shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure them, Google may collect device identifiers, your IP address (and an approximate location from it), and ad, usage and diagnostic data. Never what you cast or mirror.
- No tracking. Screen Mirror never asks for permission to track you, so Google can't use your device's advertising identifier. In the UK, EEA and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before any ads load.
- The Pro subscription is handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.
This Privacy Policy explains how Apexa Pambhar ("we", "us") handles information in the Screen Mirror app for iPhone (the "App") and on this website. By using the App you agree to this policy.
1. What you cast stays between your iPhone and your TV
- Casting to Google Cast TVs. The App uses Google's Cast SDK to find Chromecast devices and TVs with Google Cast built in, and to tell them what to play. Your photos, videos and music are served from your iPhone straight to the TV over your Wi-Fi. Google's Cast SDK may send Google basic diagnostic and usage information about Cast sessions, under Google's Privacy Policy.
- Mirroring your screen. When you start a screen broadcast, iOS shows a red indicator and the App's broadcast extension records your screen and, if you choose, the App's sound. It is encoded on your iPhone and streamed to your TV over your Wi-Fi. Nothing is saved, and the stream stops when you tap Stop. Everything visible on your screen, including notifications, is shown on the TV while you mirror.
- TV web browser links. To mirror to a TV browser, the App shows a link and QR code with an unguessable address on your Wi-Fi. Anyone on the same Wi-Fi who has that link can open the stream while it is running, so only share it with the TV you mean.
- AirPlay. AirPlay is handled by iOS and Apple, not by the App.
- App data. Recent TVs, your quality, sound, slideshow and keep-awake settings are saved on your device.
2. Permissions
| Permission | Why the App uses it |
|---|---|
| Local Network | To find TVs and streaming devices on your Wi-Fi and send your photos, videos and screen to them. |
| Screen recording (broadcast) | Only when you start mirroring, to stream your screen to the TV. iOS shows when it is on. |
| Photo picker (no permission needed) | To cast photos and videos you pick. The App receives only the items you select. |
| Files | To cast videos and music you choose from the Files app. |
The App does not ask for your location, contacts, camera or microphone, and does not ask for permission to track you.
3. Casting from the web
The App includes a web browser so you can find a video and cast it. Searches you type go to DuckDuckGo, and the websites you visit can see your IP address and set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies. When you cast a web video, the TV loads it directly from that website. We don't receive your browsing history.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App shows ads provided by Google AdMob, through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. To show ads, limit how often you see them, prevent fraud and measure performance, Google may collect:
- Device identifiers, such as an identifier limited to the App or its developer. Not your advertising identifier, which the App never requests.
- Your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general (coarse) location
- Your interactions with ads, such as views and taps, and general app usage
- Diagnostic information, such as crash and performance data
The App never gives Google or any advertiser your screen, photos, videos, music or browsing. This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Your choices
- No tracking. The App does not ask for permission to track you (App Tracking Transparency), so Google cannot use your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- Consent (UK, EEA and Switzerland). Before any ads load, Google's consent message lets you accept or decline personalised ads.
- Data held by Google. See My Ad Center.
6. Legal basis (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)
Personalised advertising relies on your consent, which you give or refuse in Google's consent message. Non-personalised advertising relies on our legitimate interest in keeping the App free. What you cast and mirror is processed only on your devices and your Wi-Fi, so we process no personal data for it.
7. Pro subscription
Pro is sold through the Apple App Store, and payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your name, payment card or billing details. The App checks with Apple, on your device, whether you have an active subscription so that it can unlock Pro.
8. Crash reports
If you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. These do not identify you and never include what you cast. We use them only to fix bugs, and you can turn this off at any time.
9. This website and support emails
If you contact us by email or through a form on this website, we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us, such as your TV model. We use this only to reply to you and help with your request. We keep it no longer than needed (normally up to 24 months), and never sell it or use it for marketing. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security. This website sets one essential session cookie to protect forms from abuse, and uses no tracking cookies.
10. Data retention and deletion
We do not keep any data from the App. Deleting the App removes its settings and recent TVs from your device. For data held by Google, use the choices above. To have support emails you sent us deleted, email us.
11. Security
Streams travel only over your local Wi-Fi and use unguessable addresses that stop working when casting or mirroring ends. Use a Wi-Fi network you trust, and avoid mirroring private information on shared or public networks.
12. Your rights
Because we do not hold personal data about you from the App, there is usually nothing for us to access or delete. Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, California law or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your data, and to complain to a data protection authority. Email support@devappstudio.tech and we will help you exercise them within 30 days. For advertising data held by Google, see My Ad Center or contact Google.
13. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will help remove it.
14. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. For significant changes, we will also mention them in the App's release notes.
