Screen Mirror Support
Answers to common questions about Screen Mirror, and a direct line to our team.
Getting connected
Which TVs work?
Chromecast devices and TVs with Google Cast built in (many Android TV, Google TV, Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense models), and any TV with a web browser on the same Wi-Fi for screen mirroring. Apple TV and AirPlay TVs work through AirPlay from the iOS Control Center.
My TV doesn't show up
Make sure your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi (not a guest network), and that the TV is on. Check that Local Network is allowed in Settings › Screen Mirror. Restarting the TV and your router often helps. The in-app Help has a checklist for each TV type.
Does it support Miracast?
No. iPhone can't use Miracast, so no iPhone app can. Use a Cast TV, a TV web browser or AirPlay instead.
Mirroring your screen
How do I mirror my whole screen?
Open Mirror, pick your TV (or choose the TV browser option and open the link or QR code on the TV), then tap start. iOS shows a red indicator while your screen is being shared. Tap Stop when you're done.
Netflix or another app shows a black screen on the TV
Many streaming apps protect their videos, and iOS blocks them from screen recording, so they appear black or silent when mirrored. No app can get around this. Use that app's own Cast or AirPlay button instead.
There's a delay or the picture is blurry
Mirroring depends on your Wi-Fi. Move closer to the router, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi if you can, or choose a lower quality in Settings. Casting a photo or video (instead of mirroring) gives the best picture.
Will people see my notifications?
Yes. While you mirror, everything on your screen is shown on the TV. Turn on a Focus mode such as Do Not Disturb before you start if you want privacy.
Casting media
How do I cast photos, videos or music?
Choose Photos, Videos or Music on the home screen and pick what to play. Photos follow as you swipe, or run as a slideshow. Videos get a TV remote to scrub, skip 10 seconds and change the volume.
How do I cast a video from a website?
Open Web, go to the page and start the video. When the App finds a video it can cast, tap Cast this video. Some websites protect their videos, and those can't be cast.
How do I stop casting?
Tap Stop on any screen, or ask Siri to "Stop casting". You can also set a sleep timer.
Ads, privacy & Pro
Does Screen Mirror see what I cast?
No. Your screen, photos and videos go straight from your iPhone to your TV over your Wi-Fi, and are never sent to us or to advertisers. Screen Mirror never asks to track you. Read the full Privacy Policy.
What does Pro include?
Pro removes the daily limit on screen mirroring. Its plans and everything it includes are shown in the app before you subscribe.
How do I cancel Pro?
Go to iOS Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions and choose Screen Mirror. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription.
How do I restore Pro on a new iPhone?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore purchases in the app.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Tip: include your iPhone model, iOS version and the steps that cause the problem. Screenshots help too. Reply to our email to attach them.
